For seven years Frank Hyatt and Gene Plummer operated Elaine Magnin Needlepoint, a retail shop in San Francisco. In January of 2000, they sold the business and launched HP Designs. In fewer than 4 years, HP Designs has evolved into a premier distributor of needlepoint designs and accessories. Especially well-received has been their hand-poured lacquer boxes, which offer stitchers a wonderful option for display of their finished needlepoint.
